STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Hannah A.

Name: Hannah A.
Instrument: Trombone
Grade: 12
Years in Band: 8

What do you enjoy most about being in band?
I enjoy playing to the best of my ability.

Favorite Band Experience?
My favorite band experience was during my Sophomore year when the band went to Marshall, MN for a competition and we got first place in our division.

What other activities are you involved in?
I am involved in marching band, symphonic band, and pep band.

What advice do you have for younger band students?
Practice, practice, practice! I didn’t do enough of it when I started out, and I still find myself not practicing when I should be. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, you’ll be told to get out of it many times throughout your years of being in band.

Tell us something about yourself that otherwise we wouldn’t know or guess.
At my old middle school and in the sixth grade, I was one of two trombone players that received a superior in solo/ensemble. There were four of us at the time.

What are your plans after graduation?
I plan on attending either UCM in Warrensburg, MO or USD in Vermillion, SD where I plan to double major in writing, cultures, and languages.
