Elizabeth Martinez

Elizabeth Martinez began teaching at Harrisburg in Fall 2012.  She currently directs the 5th grade beginning bands at Endeavor, Explorer, and Journey Elementary Schools. She has previously directed the South Middle School bands.  Prior to teaching at Harrisburg, Mrs. Martinez directed the 5-12 bands at Murray County Central in Slayton, MN.

In 2009, Mrs. Martinez received her Bachelors of Music Education degree from South Dakota State University, where she performed with the Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and “Pride of the Dakotas” Marching Band, including a trip to the 2008 Rose Bowl Parade.

Mrs. Martinez’s professional affiliations include the NAfME (National Association for Music Education) and the South Dakota Bandmasters Association.

In addition to directing the 5th grade bands, Mrs. Martinez performs on alto saxophone with the High Plains Woodwind Ensemble, and directs the color guard with the Harrisburg High School Marching Band.  Mrs. Martinez lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Adrian.
